Nestled in a charming Savoyard hamlet at the foot of the Vanoise massif and its glaciers, La Cabane des 4 is a very old village house that has been fully restored between 2021 and 2026, with the utmost respect for the architectural and vernacular heritage of Tarentaise. The restoration employed techniques that preserve the old structure: wood, stone, hemp, and lime, with no artificial materials. Even the blankets are made from artisanal Savoy wool (Arpin spinning mill, supplier to the Vanoise mountain refuges).
Spread over three levels and 130 m², it features five comfortable bedrooms that can accommodate up to ten people, making it an ideal place for large families or groups of friends seeking authenticity and fresh air. The living area, topped with a "cathedral" ceiling that enhances the exposed beams, opens onto an integrated kitchen and its bar unit. A log-burning stove warms the evenings in the lounge, while a pellet stove dries ski gear in the "mountain" room on the ground floor. From the large panoramic balcony (10 m²), the view extends to the Vanoise glaciers and the Dent du Villard; in summer, a shaded terrace and a small garden extend the house outdoors.
Beneath the restored original beams: a dining area with its large extendable table and fairy lights for fondue evenings, separated from an open-plan kitchen by a modern bar unit, a cosy seating area with its wood-burning stove, and a stunning view of the forested mountain opposite through a large picture window.

On the ground floor, a versatile room serving as entrance and hallway, ski cupboard, shoe rack, drying area, laundry room and secondary kitchen (for short stays of up to 3 people: breakfasts, children's snacks, meals for little ones, and so on), with its pellet stove and a fir table and bench, perfect for board games after a day of skiing or hiking.
Trundle bed for this double or single bedroom for guests in the evening, reading nook and balcony access during the day. Sunny little desk perfect for writing postcards or working for a while (though a more modern desk is available on the first floor for those working remotely).

Ground-floor dormitory room with three beds (80×190 cm), including two bunk beds, perfect for children to enjoy being together during their holiday. Access is provided to a vaulted cellar via a trapdoor, which remains closed to guests (off-season storage only). The Petit Mont-Blanc (2,6xx m) is an iconic peak in Pralognan that we highly recommend attempting to climb as a family. Technically very easy yet relatively athletic, it makes for a wonderful family challenge to tackle towards the end of your summer stay!

Master bedroom in the attic on the second floor, all in old wood and particularly the nearly two-century-old restored floorboards. Queen-size double bed (160×200). Access via a moderately secure ladder (not suitable for young children or elderly guests). Grand Bec (3xxx m) is the highest peak of the massif where the village is located, mirroring the Grande Casse and the Vanoise glaciers, between Pralognan, Bozel and Champagny-en-Vanoise.

A cosy attic cabin on the second floor, featuring a single bed (80×190). The perfect hideaway for a child or solo traveller, nestled in the heart of the woods. Soon, a second child’s bed will be installed above the existing one, to the delight of any youngster dreaming of summits and 5am starts to join their older sibling on an adventure... A window overlooking the kitchen lets in extra light, complemented by a curtain embroidered with the Savoy cross – a nod to the charm of these lands (which we, the guardians of this place, are of course very fond of).

With its 1.5m depth and generous width, this spacious balcony is perfect for enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea, or aperitifs in the sun, or even meals for small groups of up to 4-5 people.
Small, shallow parking space located just beside the house, accessible via a relatively narrow path to be avoided in winter by larger vehicles. Exiting requires reversing, so it is reserved for confident drivers.
